AirAsia Increases KL Hong Kong Flights Frequency
3 KL Hong Kong Flights Daily AirAsia, Asia’s biggest low-cost carrier and recently awarded the coveted “Best Airline of the year 2009” by CAPA, announced that it will increase its Kuala Lumpur – Hong Kong flights to 3 daily frequency. AirAsia which is currently offering 2 daily direct flights to Hong Kong from Kuala Lumpur is introducing the new frequency to meet the emerging demands and encouraging load factors from the ASEAN region and beyond. The 3rd daily flight will commence on 21st January 2010.AirAsia’s first connection to Hong Kong was from Kuala Lumpur hub. Following its successful launch last year, AirAsia continued to boost its international connectivity with more KL Hong Kong flights by launching more new destinations from its hubs which include Penang (4 flights weekly) as well as the Thai cities of Bangkok (2 flights daily) and Phuket (1 flight daily). These bring AirAsia’s total number of weekly flights to and from Hong Kong to 46.
The overwhelming demand from travelers to and from Hong Kong has grown tremendously not only from holidaymakers but also from those with business ventures around the region since the launch of the KL Hong Kong flights from the various AirAsia hubs for the past 2 years. Airasia is the preferred airline as its low-fares would enable them to make the most of their trips, moreover AirAsia is the sole low-cost carrier to connect the two regions with its revolutionary low-fares. Kathleen Tan, Regional Head of Commercial, AirAsia Group said: “The response has been extremely good for this route and we are running at an average of 75 percent load factor on the KL Hong Kong flights since its launch on 15th May 2008. The demand for the existing routes made it very clear for the need to introduce additional flights. Shortly after the first launch, we added the 2nd daily flight in August 2008 and subsequently the 3rd daily frequency in the first quarter of 2010. The mounting of frequency is a testament to AirAsia’s commitment of making travel accessible and affordable to all. It will also provide both business and leisure travelers with more flexibility and greater choice to connect onto AirAsia and AirAsia X’s extensive route network across ASEAN countries.”“Hong Kong has always been a popular destination due to its significance as a global economic powerhouse. Many Malaysians are also starting to venture into the region to look for business prospects. Furthermore, Hong Kong is also famed for shopping and a cultural haven for leisure tourists. In fact, with the Hong Kong International Airport’s exclusive infrastructure, serving as an international hub feeding on traffic to international destinations has allowed us to expand and tap new markets, and extending our notoriously low fares to passengers throughout the region,” she added.
