Malaysia Weather
Malaysia weather basically follows a tropical weather pattern, but the most advantageous aspect is that it is never excessively hot. High humidity is a common characteristic, which should be expected from its location near the ocean and the equator. The Malaysia climate is normally reasonably hot and quite humid compared to other more moderate climates, excluding the much cooler temperatures in the mountainous areas.
During the year, the average temperature reaches 20°C to 30°C on a daily basis. Located between 1° and 6°N, the entire country lies near the equator and Malaysia weather maintains a tropical climate with high temperatures and specific wet months year around.
In terms of East Malaysia, November to February constitute the wettest months of the year.
East Malaysia typically receives 5050 millimeters of rain per year, more than double the amount of rain in Peninsular Malaysia at 2500 millimeters per year.
November to February generally represents monsoon season at its height, although on the west coast August is the wettest month.
However, the monsoon changes depending on which part of the coastline of Peninsular Malaysia you are on. September to December are considered the rainy season on the west coast, on the other hand, October to February receive the most rainfall on the east coast. Daily hours of sunshine average from four to five hours during the wettest months to eight or nine during the drier periods. As is usual in most equatorial regions of the world rainfall comes in the form of thundershowers and is extremely heavy.
Month to month the temperature changes very little, with high humidity, and no large daily variation in temperature. Although, sometimes an afternoon and evening breeze brings some welcome relief from the heat. In the hills, where there are several resorts, temperatures are clearly lower although there is somewhat higher humidity, more rain, and less sunshine than the coastal areas.
In general, the days are rather warm and sometimes the temperature cools off in the evening. The idyllic Malaysia weather is always tempting for those of us who enjoy the tropics.
